NEWINGTON POLICE COMMISSION
MINUTES

There was a meeting of the Newington Police Commissioners on Monday, July 9, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. at the Newington Police Department.

PRESENT: Commissioner Steven Prefontaine, Commissioner Brenda Blonigen, Commissioner F. Jackson Hoyt, Chief Michael Bilodeau and Diana St.Laurent.

The purpose of the meeting was to interview the final 3 candidates for the position of Full-Time Police officer here in the department. The Commissioners were provided folders to review containing the results of the oral board held at the police department on June 27, 2018.

The Commissioners met and interviewed each candidate. After a brief deliberation, the Commissioners came to a consensus on the candidate they thought would be the best fit for the department.

The Chief told the Commissioners that the NHPS&TC August Academy has only approximately 3 slots left open. The Chief said if it is not possible to get the candidate into the August Academy, then he recommended that the hiring date of the candidate be put off until the end of October or beginning of November.

On a MOTION by Commissioner Blonigen and seconded by Commissioner Hoyt, the Commissioners voted unanimously to make a “conditional offer of employment” to candidate Craig Szopa of Greenland, N.H.
