Prescription Drop Box
The Newington Police Department is committed to the prevention of prescription drug overdoses and to the safe and secure disposal of unwanted prescription medications.
In an effort to further that commitment, the Police Department now maintains a prescription drug drop box located in the lobby of the police station. Anyone wishing to dispose of unwanted medications can do so anonymously by stopping by the police station during business hours and placing them in the drop box.
Any prescription medications placed into the secure drop box are inventoried and destroyed by the evidence officer in accordance with RSA 318-B:17. Authorization for the prescription drug collection program is granted to the Newington Police by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Please keep in mind that the drop box opening measures 12″ wide by 3″ high so any deposits would be restricted in size to those dimensions. Although the program is anonymous, we do ask that, if possible, that the type of drug be written on the container. This information will help provide accurate information for inventory purposes. Please feel free to contact Chief Michael Bilodeau at 603-431-5461 with any questions that you may have.
