NEWINGTON POLICE COMMISSION
MINUTES

 There was a meeting of the Newington Police Commissioners on February 6, 2018 at the Newington Police Department at 4:00 p.m.

PRESENT: Commissioner Kenneth Latchaw, Commissioner Steve Prefontaine, Chief Michael Bilodeau, Captain Michael Sullivan and Administrative Assistant Diana St. Laurent. Commissioner Hoyt was unable to attend the meeting.

CALL TO ORDER

 Chairman Prefontaine called the meeting to order at 4:10 p.m.

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS

1. On a MOTION by Commissioner Latchaw and seconded by Chairman Prefontaine, the Commissioners voted to accept the minutes from January 2, 2018 meeting as written.

     2. There were no other minutes.

POLICE COMMISSION INFORMATION

1. Staff Update – The Chief told the Commissioners that employee evaluations have been done and will continue to be done on a semi-annual basis. The Chief said that he put together a sexual harassment policy included with the annual evaluations, so that each employee has to answer “yes” or “no” he/she understands and is familiar with the policy. The Chief told the Commissioners that Part-time Officer Gregor started the NHPS&TC academy this past Saturday. The Chief said that if the town votes in favor of the warrant article for a new officer position, then Officer Gregor will be attending the April 2018 full-time academy.

     2. Other Police Commission Business –

a. The Commissioners reviewed and signed the purchase order file.
b. No budget review at this time.

NEW BUSINESS

Commissioner Latchaw said that he has signed up for the position of Selectman. If Commissioner Latchaw wins the election, that will leave a vacancy on the Commission.

NEXT MEETING DATE/TIME/LOCATION

 The March 6, 2018 meeting has been changed to MARCH 20, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at the police department.
